The morning of your wedding day flies by so fast. Although you are so excited for your ceremony and festivities to begin, it's important to soak up this special time with your close family and friends as you get ready. Consider making a list of things that you want and need to accomplish that day before all the fun begins. Timing these events out and making sure that all items are available and ready is so crucial to the flow of your wedding day. It not only keeps you on track, but makes sure that nothing is forgotten or overlooked. This blog focuses on ideas that can be considered the morning of your wedding day in order to make the day stress free and more enjoyable.
Wedding Day Gifts & Cards
Whether it's a gift for your future spouse, your parents, or bridesmaids - having these items purchased, wrapped, and ready to go is always a good idea. The last thing you want to focus on the day of your wedding is finding last minute tissue paper or the right words to write in a card. Having these items packed and ready to go with you the night before helps keep the flow of your wedding day on track. This way you can enjoy giving these items and seeing all of their sweet expressions instead of accidentally forgetting one at home or leaving someone out.
Brunch & Snacks
Most brides forget to eat the morning of their wedding. Between the schedules and the anxiousness and excitement, making meal plans tends to get pushed to the back burner. To avoid getting a headache of feeling faint, I think it's important to make plans to have brunch or snacks available for you and your bridal party. If everyone is expected to arrive by 10 or 11am and then food at the reception isn't served until 6pm for a 5pm wedding - that's a long time frame without food.
Robes & PJs
Another thing to consider when it comes to your bridesmaids is giving them a robe or buttoned pjs as a gift to wear the morning of your wedding. These are great for not only getting ready in, but also make super cute photos. The thing that I love about robes and buttoned tops is that no one risks the chance of ruining their hair or make-up when getting dressed. This helps everyone stay on a schedule without the need for touch ups and redos.
Gathering Items You Will Need
It's helpful to make a list of the things you will need while getting ready the morning of your wedding. I suggest doing this earlier in the week. Packing these items the night before makes sure that no last minute scrambling around interferes with your morning. Here's a basic list of what most brides need to take with them to the venue:
- wedding dress
- shoes
- jewelry
- bridal undergarments
- veil/hairpiece
- vows
- toiletries (toothbrush, deodorant, etc. in case you want to freshen up before the ceremony)
- garter
- gifts for bridal party/parents/future spouse
- wedding bands
Girl's Best Friend Photos
If you are are a dog lover like me, perhaps consider having photos taken with your best friend the morning of your wedding. Most people want photos with their dog, but don't necessarily want them there for the entire day and festivities. Making arrangements for someone to bring your pet during a reserved time slot that morning is a great way to capture these cute moments. This also allows times for photos without throwing off your pet's routine or having to worry about them around guests all day at the venue.
Hair & Make-Up
Prior to the wedding day, make sure that your MUA and Hairdresser are aware of how many people they will need to get ready, along with the timeline of your wedding day. Losing track of time and getting off schedule is easy to do when there isn't enough time planned for each bridesmaid or the bride's hair and make-up takes longer than expected. I suggest always planning at least 45 minutes for each girl, and at least an hour for the bride. Also be sure to communicate these details with your bridesmaids so that they arrive on time as well. Considering all the tiny details and then giving some extra time in between is always helpful.
Bridesmaid Reveal
I love these and highly suggest them! It's such a fun moment to capture. A bridesmaid reveal is simply a first look with your bridal party after you've slipped your dress on and completed your look for the day. Consider possibly making time for one if your timeline for the day allows for it.
