Matt and Courtney met on a dating app after being very skeptical due to both having
bad experiences in the past on the same app. They messaged back and forth a little,
but she did not respond to him for a couple of days because she was busy hosting a
wedding shower for her best friend that weekend. Matt told himself he would message
her one last time and if she did not respond, he was deleting her number. Luckily,
Courtney responded and they started talking every day for a few weeks on the phone
and Facetime before they met. Matt is from the same county as Courtney’s mom and
her side of the family and she happened to be coming to town for her grandparent’s 60 the wedding anniversary celebration.
They ended up going to dinner at Village Station in
Lumberton that Friday night, then the next day was the party and Matt invited himself
(which she says she was happy about). He met her family on the second day of
knowing her; sat at the family table and everything. Courtney says her family loved him
right away. They never quit talking after that and continued to date with her living in
Florence and him in Lumberton until about 4-5 months into the relationship, she ended
up moving to Fairmont to be closer to her mom and grandparents, which was also
closer to Matt. Then, after dating for about 2 years, she moved into the house Matt had
purchased and they been living together and making it their home ever since. August
was their 5-year anniversary.
When it came time for Matt to propose, they went to see her Granny in Columbia. They
went out to eat at California Dreaming where Courtney used to work (and loves). Matt
wanted to “see” the Horseshoe since Courtney went to college at USC and he proposed
in front of the Maxcy Monument, which is in the middle of the grounds. It was rainy so
no one was around, it was so sweet!
When asked what they love most about one another Courtney says she loves how hard
working Matt is and how big his heart is. He keeps her grounded and makes her feel
loved and safe. He is the first man she ever dated the she truly trusted. He is very
generous and makes her want to be a better person. Matt loves that Courtney will do
anything for anyone and her outgoing personality. He loves that she is driven and
motivated to keep pushing further in her career to better their lives and future. He thinks she is smart and compassionate. They make each other laugh and have a lot of fun together.
Matt and Courtney love going on walks together and watching movies/shows. They love
going to the beach, eating out, spending time with their animals and traveling. In their
spare time they enjoy grilling, projects around the house, yard work, and gardening. It
was so fun getting to know you both during your engagement session and your
Memories by Lexi family is so honored and excited to capture your memories!
Congratulations on your engagement!
