The morning of your wedding comes and goes by so fast. It can be a very fast paced, blur of a morning that sometimes results in stress or anxiousness. By preparing and keeping the following in mind, you will be able to stay calm and collected as you get ready and ease into the festivities of your day. Keeping these steps in mind will allow you to reflect back on your wedding day and remember the great moments instead of feeling flustered, rushed, or stressed.
1. List of Vendor Contacts
I highly suggest taking the time to write down a list of your wedding vendors, along with contact information and a contact person for each one. Find time the week before your wedding to organize this list so you aren't fumbling around for it the morning of your special day. This list will come in handy the morning of your wedding in case there are last minute changes or you need to contact someone for directions or information on how to obtain something. Being over prepared is never a bad idea. This way if something comes up or you forget something, you can contact your vendors in a fast and easy way to ask questions or let them know.
2. Rest & Relaxation
Find time the week leading up to your wedding to take a step back and relax. This will allow you to regroup and reflect on all the planning that has led to this point and how you can now rest assured that it is done and have the mindset to let the rest go and enjoy your day. You could plan a spa day with your bridal party, or a pampering day for just you alone. Here's a few local suggestions if you are in the Florence area:
Eden Hunt - Skin Therapist
1308 Celebration Blvd, Florence, SC 29501
Forum Spa
1326 W Evans St, Florence, SC 29501
The Spa at Hotel Florence
102 West Evans St, Florence, SC 29501
3. Hydrate
It's easy to sip on mimosas or coffee all morning while you chat and get ready with your friends. I highly suggest not forgetting to hydrate in between with water, especially if you have a summer wedding. Taking time to hydrate in between drinks makes sure that you aren't feeling fatigued or even overly tipsy when it comes time to say your vows.
4. Protein
It's so easy to forget to eat the morning of your big day. Or if you do eat, you grab a sugary snack such as a donut or pastry. I highly suggest eating a breakfast with protein so you don't become hangry or fatigued through out the day. Protein will also help you stay full without effecting your blood sugar. This doesn't mean you have to eat a heavy breakfast with bacon and eggs. Choosing other forms of protein such as greek yogurt or peanut butter toast will still do the job of holding you over.
5. Planning Extra Time for Showering and Pampering
Over plan the time you need for showering and getting ready. Remember that you might need to shave, pluck your eyebrows, or do other last minute hygiene necessities. This will provide extra time so that you are not stressed or rushed to do last minute pampering before heading to your hairdresser and MUA. For instance if you normally get ready in an hour, I'd be sure to reserve an extra 30-45 minutes for small things you forgot about or don't normally do during your morning routine.
6. Creating a Calm Environment
Whatever makes you feel calm and peaceful, try and incorporate it into the morning of your wedding. Whether that is having your dog there with you, listening to your favorite music, or having your friends pray around you - find a way to make it happen. This is your day and finding ways to stay calm will help make it more enjoyable and fun!
7. Wedding Emergency Kit
Last, but not least - make sure you have a packed and handy emergency kit with the following in it:
- headache medicine
- tide to-go stick
- safety pins
- bobby pins
- alcohol pads
- bandaids
- antacids
- wet wipes
- tweezers
- tissues
- breath mints
- q-tips
Having these things on hand can help with any events that might take place leading up to the ceremony. I would suggest packing it the week prior to your wedding and adding any other personalized items you might need.
